Abstract
Immunization is one of the ways to build an immunity to a child by
injecting vaccines to prevent certain disease. According to Health Department of
Republic Indonesia, in 2014 there only 81,82% of the villages in Indonesia which
have reached to target of UCI (Universal Child Immunization). Based on statistic
data, Kertanegara has a population with a good education level. The study is
aimed to identify and to analyze the perception and the participation of the
community there in the immunization program before and after the break of fake
vaccine as it was issued by national media in 2016. The method is a descriptive,
applying a cross-sectional sampling by making use of questionnaire instruments.
The respondents are mostly female (98.8%), in age of 21-30 years old (54.76%),
with an education level of junior high school (45.24%) and unemployed (91.7%).
Their perception about the immunization is significantly different before and after
the break fake vaccine, with a value of α < 0.05. Their perception on the
vaccination was good before the case 85.72%, but it was down after it, leaving
only 67.86%. As a result, their participation in the immunization program also
dramatically dropped. In January-June 2016, the community participation reached
109.60%, but in the next six months (July-Desember 2016), it fell to 89.69%.
