This research is entitled “An Analysis of Declarative and Interrogative
Sentences in "Mata Najwa" Talk Show Taken from Youtube Uploaded in January
2017”. This research is aimed to describe the types of declarative sentences
that contains the expression of feeling and interrogative sentences in “Mata
Najwa” talk show taken from youtube uploaded in January 2017.
This research belongs to descriptive qualitative research. The data of this
research is declarative sentences that contains the expression of feeling and
interrogative sentences in “Mata Najwa” talk show taken from youtube
uploaded in January 2017. This research is conducted in three phases (1) providing
data, (2) analyzing data, and (3) presenting the analysis result. In providing data, the
researcher uses observation method. Then,videos of “Mata Najwa” talk
show uploaded in January 2017 were downloaded from youtube. Theadvance
technique used is writing technique. The data is analyzed using distributional method.
This method usesreplacement technique. The analysis result is presented using
informal method.
Based on the result of the research and discussion, the researcher concluded
that “Mata Najwa” talk show uploaded in youtube in January 2017 is
contained declarative sentences of the expression of feeling and interrogative
sentences. The declarative sentences consisted of expressions of certainty, hope, fear,
hate,love, defenselessness, conditional, and suggestion. Meanwhile, the interrogative
sentences consisted of “yes/no” questions, asking for one of sentences
elements, asking for excuse, and asking foropinions. Declarative sentence of hate,
love and conditional were not found. There were 31 declarative sentence of
expressing feeling in “Mata Najwa” talk show uploaded in youtube in
January 2017 and 61interrogative sentences. Thus, interrogative sentences are more
dominant than declarative sentences. In thisresearch, all types of interrogative
sentences are found in “Mata Najwa” talk show uploaded in youtube in
January 2017. Meanwhile, not all declarative sentences are found.
