Abstract

Collagen have been used in many cosmetics industries as moisturizer.
Osphronemus goramy is well-known contain collagen that potent to apply as a
skin moinsturizer. The purpose of this reasearch was to obtained collagen extract
from gouramy scales with proper exctraction method, good physical cream test
and determine the ability of gouramy scales to moisturize the skin in cream
preparations. The collagen extract was obtained by modification of
kittiphattanabawon et al. (2010). Collagen was identified by spectroscopy FTIR
and then cream formulated was of type vanishing cream , by adding in collagen
extract gouramy scales with concentration 5%, 7% and 12% as moisturizer. The
evaluation consists of the physical properties (organoleptic, pH, viscosity,
sorbtion desorbtion test). Efficacy study was done for 1 hour by using 24 guinea
pig used parameter increase skin moisturize. FTIR analysis show the major
absorption bands of amide A, B, I, II, and III were at wavenumber 3286 cm-1,
3070 cm-1, 1652 cm-1, 1543 cm-1, and 1543 cm-1 respectively. Cream with
consentration of collagen extract from gouramy scales 7% and 10% show good
physical test. The ability of moisturize cream to increase skin moisturize showed
that there was a significant difference in the increased percentage of in skin
moisture. Formula with a concentration of 10% collagen extract from gouramy
scales is the most optimal in increasing skin moisture up to 10,67%.
