Lifestyle of the day lately often cause many diseases such as hypertension.
One of the drugs used to treat hypertension was metoprolol. In long-term used,
metoprolol need monitored to detect early symptoms of side effects. There was
validation metoprolol of analysis in human urine by thin layer chromatography
(TLC) – Densitometry method. The method that used in this research was in vitro.
The stationary phase was silica gel 60 F254 while the mobile phase was consist of
chloroform: methanol: ammonia (40: 60: 0,2) v / v. Detection was done with
wavelenght 282 nm. Validation parameters include of Limit of Detection (LOD)
value was 4,473 μg while Limit of Quantification (LOQ) value was 14,90 μg,
linearity was indicated by r = 0,9904. Precision was showed with Relative
Standart Deviation (RSD) value of 4.07%. The result showed that value of
recovery was 102.73%. The result showed that thin layer chromatography-
Densitometry method could be used for the analysis of metoprolol in human urine
in vitro.
