The huge number of housing in Purwokerto city makes the people to be more
selective in choosing the housing location they desire. The location which does
not meet the people or consumers' needs can cause ineffectiveness of housing
establishment. Differences between people and developers' viewpoints can inhibit
the marketing, especially in the non-subsidized housing which is relatively
expensive. Related to those reasons, the research on factors in selecting housing
location in Purwokerto city identified what factors having the biggest influence in
determining the housing location. Moreover, the research was expected to give
suggestions to developers in establishing a housing which also to prioritize the
people's needs. The research method was AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process)
analysis method supported by Expert Choice 11 and Microsoft Excel software to
make the analysis easier. After the data were analysed, they were compared with
the data from consumers and developers.Thus, it could be identified whether the
developers' viewpoints in determining housing location had met the people's
expectation or not.
