Abstract

This research aimed at describing students' mathematical analytical thinking ability viewed from self-awareness in SMP Negeri 2 Purwokerto. This was a descriptive qualitative research. The subjects in this research were the students at grade eight (class G) selected with purposive sampling technique. The students were divided into three categories those were high self-awareness, medium self-awareness, and low self-awareness. The data collection techniques used were questionnaire, interview, and documents. The data were then analyzed using Miles and Huberman which covered data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The validation test used was triangulation test technique. The result showed that: 1) students with high self-awareness mastered all indicators of mathematical analytical thinking ability, those were differentiating, organizing, and connecting. 2) students with medium self-awareness only mastered two indicators, those were differentiating and organizing. 3) students with low self-awareness could not master any indicator.
