The aims of this research were to know (1) the total number of verbs used in the textbook, (2) the kinds of verbs occurred regularly and rarely used in the textbook. This research was carried out in April to June, 2017. The method to construct this study was Descriptive Research in which the object of this research was textbook “English in Focus” as used in Grade VII, VIII, and XI of junior high school. In this research, the data was classified based on the types for each grade. Based on the result, it was found that the total number of verb used in grade VII was 140 verbs, in grade 8 had 132 verbs in all chapters, and the last grade, there were 131 verbs used in all chapter in the textbook. The largest proportion of total verbs in all chapters in grade 7 was finite verbs consisting 87 verbs or 18.67%. The smallest proportion of the verbs was non action verbs with only 12 verbs or 2.56%. In grade 8, there were 20.75% of finite verbs or 94 verbs of frequent use. The verbs which were rarely used in this grade were intransitive verb with only 3.96%. The largest composition of verbs in grade 9 was finite verbs. The total number of finite verbs used in grade 9 was 103 or 22.69%. Meanwhile, in this grade there were only 15 verbs of intransitive with 3.30%.
