Abstract

Patikraja district has lowland and hill topography. This research aimed to figure out the correlation between the slope gradient with the dangers of erosion in Patikraja Sub-District of Banyumas.
A survey method was used in this research in which the population was all villages in Patikraja Sub-District. The sampling technique was incidental sampling. The formula used in this research was USLE formula with ArcGisapplication device. The maps used in an overlay process (a process to figure out the level of erosion danger) were four map types, i.e. a rainfall map, a slope gradient map, a soil type map, and a land usage map. This was in order to obtain information on the categorized of erosion hazard which was grouped into five categories, i.e. sub minor, minor, medium, major, and massive. In each map, a scoring was calculated based on a certain standard.
Based on the conducted survey, the result showed that there is correlation between the slope gradient with the level of erosion. In the slope gradient 1, there are dangers of minor, major, and massive erosion covering 254 ha area with the percentage of 5,54%. In the slope gradient 2, there are dangers of sub minor, minor, medium, major, and massive erosion covering 2.267 ha area with the percentage of 49,42%. In the slope gradient 3, there are dangers of sub minor, minor, medium, major, and massive erosion covering 976 ha area with the percentage of 21,28%. In the slope gradient 4, there are dangers of sub minor, medium, major, and massive erosion covering 1.090 ha area with the percentage of 23,76%.
