Abstract

Instructional media are expected to play crucial role in teaching English by forming a vital component in the instructional process. The utilization of media gives great contribution for both the teachers and the students. Therefore, the aim of this research was to investigate the kinds of media used by the teachers in teaching English and how the teachers utilized instructional media during the teaching process. This research was conducted in a junior high school in Somagede. This research used analytical descriptive method. To collect the data, the researcher employed observation and interview techniques. The result of the research indicated that there were three kinds of instructional media which used by the teachers comprising cards, real objects, and computer-based presentation technology. Each of them was used for different purposes and activities. Cards were utilized for matching and ordering activity, real objects were used as the source of information. Meanwhile, computer-based presentation technology was utilized to present the materials.
