Abstract

The aim of this research was to know how the teachers’ technique in teaching vocabulary. The research was conducted at SMP Muhammadiyah 3Purwokerto in the year of academic 2016/2017. There were two English teachers in SMP Muhammadiyah 3Purwokerto. In collecting the data, the researcher used interview and observation as instruments of this research. The teachers answered the questions based on interview guides then the researcher made an observation for both of those teachers. The method of analyzing the data was qualitative. Based on result of data analysis, it was found that the teachers used some techniques as a model in teaching and learning process. The techniques that use by the teachers were Translation, Giving Example, Realia, Pictures and Mimes because these techniques were the fun way and appropriate with classroom needed and learning objectives. It made the students more understanding and easily remembers the words.
