Abstract

Tetrahydrocurumumine (THC) has antiinflammatory activity but low water solubility has an effect on bioavailability value. Tetrahydrocurumumin made in the Selfnanoemusifying Drug Delivery System (SNEDDS) is expected to improve bioavailability. The purpose of this research is to get optimum formula of SNEDDS using d-Optimal design. As the independent variable is the amount of oil, surfactant and cosurfactant. As the dependent variable is emulsification time, percent transmittance and DE15. The optimum formula of SNEDDS consisted of 10% labrafil, 80% colifor: labraol 25%: 75% and 10% PEG 400. DE15 optimum formula 49.45%, significantly higher than THC before modified. The estimated value of the response did not differ significantly with the response value of the experimental results. The optimum formula of SNEDDS THC from Design Expert 7.0 (DX 7.0) has a nanometer particle size of 53.8 nm. The level of uniformity of particle distribution is well characterized by the value of Polydispersity Index (PI) 0.043 while the potential zeta value -19.4 mV means less good.
