Abstract
The objectives of this re search was to improve students asking question ability and mathematics achievement at class VII E of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Purwokerto using Cooperative Learning of Numbered Heads Together (NHT). The subjects of this Class Action Research were 30 students of V II E of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Purwokerto. The research was conducted in three cycles. Asking questions ability data were obtained from observation while students achievement data were obtained from evaluation test. Meanwhile, asking questions ability data wer e obtained from asking frequency. The result showed the asking frequency from Cycle I were 37 times, Cycle II improved to 76 times and Cycle III also improved to 82 times. The students mostly about knowledge questions in Cycle I and Cycle II. However, they mostly deliver aplication questions in Cycle III. For asking technique, the average of cycle I was 3.7, improved to 6.5 in Cycle II and improve again to 7.1 in Cycle III. Students‟ mathemathics achievement data also improved consecutively in three cycles. The average score in Cycle I was 52.83, improved to 76.93 in Cycle II and improved in Cycle III to 86.85. it can be concluded that Cooperative Learning of Numbered Heads Together (NHT) could improved students‟ mathematics achievement and asking question a bility in at class VII E of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Purwokerto.
