This research entitle Religious Social Criticism In Short Story Lukisan
Kaligrafi Of A. Mustofa Bisri aimed to describe religious social criticism and social
critique of religious relation with the real life.
The object ot this research was the religious social criticism contained in a
collection of short stories Lukisan Kaligrafi of A. Mustofa Bisri. The approach of this
research was sociological approach to literature. Literature sociology approach is an
approach that analyzes human society, the process of understanding from society to
the individual. This research was analyzed the life of the community through
literature. The data of this research was in the from of texs containing religious social
criticism and sources of data in this research were colletion of short stories Lukisan
Kaligrafi of A. Mustofa Bisri. Research took ten short stories as a sample.
The result of this research inculed religious social criticism which was divided
into four aspects , namely aqeedah, worship, morality, and muamalat. (1) aspect of
creed includes shirk and claimed to be the incornation of gabriel. (2) aspect worship
covers religious aspect for a moment, how to get a reward, and how to remove sin. (3)
moral aspect includes a muslim bigotry, guilt intention, action against unjust, the
attitude of a muslim apostate, sincere, doing bad things for reasons of goodness, and
su’udzon. (4) aspect muamalat include indigenous people, relationships, social status,
mystical life, one utilizing science, and life member of the house of representative.
Short story “Bidadari Itu di Bawah Jibril” includess four aspect, the short story “Gus
Muslih”, and “Amplop-amplop Abu-abu” includess three aspect, the story “Mubalig
Kondang”, “Ngelmu Sigar Raga”, and “Kang Kasanun” includess two aspect, the
short story “Gus Jafar”, “Ndara Mat Amit”, “Lukisan Kaligrafi“, and “Mbah Sidik”
includess one aspect. The relation of religious social criticism in a collection of short
stories Lukisan Kaligrafi of A. Mustofa Bisri divied into three covers, (1) social life
with God (2) the social life of the community by the community (3) the social ife of
the community and the sate.
