Abstract

The research endtitled The Tradition and Myth of Javanese in Short Stories
“Nyanyian Kesetiaan” by Miftah Fadhli and Friends (A Study on Literature
Anthropologyy). It aims to describe textually and myth in Javanese to the short stories
Nyanyian Kesetiaan by Miftah Fadhli and Friends as well as to describe the tradition
construction and myth of Javanese in short stories.
The object was tradition and myths to Javanese in Nyanyian Kesetiaan short
stories by Miftah Fadhli and Friends. The data were short stories consisted with
tradition and myths. The method to analyse the data was analytic descriptive. The
research used literature antrhropology approach centre in text anthropology. It focused
in the thoughts, idea, cultures, traditions dan myths reflected in literature works.
The research showed that the tradition of Javanese in the short stories were: (1)
Devotional visit to secred place (Ziarah)tradition, (2) Javenese wedding such as; (a)
Counting Javanese date (Weton), (b) Cattle of coconut leaves tradition (Tuwuhan), (c)
Tradition of predicting child position, (d) Tradition of special ceremony in the night
before the wedding (Midodareni), (3) Ceremonial meal (Slametan), (4) Javanese
vasting tradition, and (5) Cleaning the village tradition. On the other hand, the myths
were: (1) Self energy includes; (a) Eye self energy, (b) Heirloom self energy, and (c)
Amulet self energy. (2) Ancestor spirit (Dhanyang) in village, covered; (a) Ki Moko
spirit, (b) Hyang Tjakraningrat spirit, (c) Bangaseppo spirit, (d) Ki Slamet spirit, (e)
Nyi Lurik spirit, (f) Ancestor spirit, and (g)Moyang spirit in the village. (3) Sesajen
(food offering to spirits) covered; (a) The power of water sesajen, (b) The power of
flower sesajen. (4) The taboo to have married between Cipaku and Onje villages.
Mean while, the tradition construction in the short stories were; (1) The culture of
Hidhuis and Budhis was in the Ziarah, (2) The Javanese religion was in the two
traditions; (a) Javanese wedding and (b) Javanese vasting. (3) The construction of pra
Hindhuis and Budhis was in the; (a) Slametan and (b) Cleaning the village. The myths
of the short stories were (a) Kasekten myths, (b) Dhanyang in the villages. (2) The
construction of pra Hidhuis and Budhis was on the Sesajen. (3) The construction of
Babad Purbalingga was found in the wedding taboo myth between Cipaku and Onje
villages.
