Abstract

Zeolites have a role both in the soil and affect the plant. Zeolite would be
better if applied with organic fertilizer. Mushroom plant media waste have a
potential as an organic fertilizer. Mushroom plant media waste can reduce the
degradation of soil, due to excessive use of inorganic fertilizers. The organic
fertilizers also improve the physical, chemical and biological for soil that have clay
content quite high such as Ultisol soil.
The aim of this research to determine the use of zeolite dose and mushroom
plant media waste on Ultisol soil of the onion cultivation. The research was
conducted in the Karangsoka Village, Kembaran Distric, Banyumas Regency, on
May until September 2014. The research was arranged by Randomized Completely
Block Design and each repeated six times (factor tested are: zeolite dose consists of
two levels: 0 and 1 tons.ha-1 while for mushroom plant media waste consists of: 0
tons.ha-1 of waste plant mushrooms, 20 ton.ha-1 of fresh waste and 20 tons.ha-1 of
compost waste. The data obtained were tabulated and analyzed using the F test
(Anova test). When the treatment give significant effect then continued test by Least
Significant Difference test at 5% level.
Results of the study showed that zeolite with a dose of 1 ton.ha-1 did not
significant effect toward growth and yield of onion. Mushroom plant media waste no
significantly at age 6 and 8 Weeks After Planting (WAP) on plant growth onion,
giving mushroom plant media waste is better than without the provision of
mushroom plant media waste, the fresh waste and waste composting. No significant
interaction between the zeolite and the provision of mushroom plant media waste
growing media on onion plants.
