Abstract
The aim of this research was to find out the effectiveness of Circle Game in teaching
vocabulary. This research was conducted at SMP Muhammadiyah Sumbang in academic
year 2013/2014. This research was a quasi experimental research. There were 60 students
involved in the research which was divided into two classes.VII C was as experimental class
and VII A was as control class. The technique that was used for collecting data was tests.
Those were pre test and post test. Pre test was given before the treatment, and post test was
given after the treatment. It could be seen on the result of computation of t-test, where t-result
is 3,454 and t-table is 1.667 at the significant level α=0.05 in df= 58. The result was higher
than t-table (3.454 > 1.667). It means that the hypothesis that Circle Game was effective in
teaching English vocabulary was accepted.
