Abstract

This study aims to improve learning motivation and communication skills
Cooperative learning mathematics using The Power Of two types . This research
is Classroom Action Research ( CAR ) with the research subjects were students of
class XI IPS 3 with 28 students . The study consisted of three cycles , each cycle
consisting of three meetings ie 2 meetings for the delivery of material and 1
meeting given test students' mathematical communication skills . Each cycle
consists of planning, action, observation , test motivation , evaluation , and
reflection . The success of this study is measured by math test communication
skills that have been applied to the type of cooperative learning The Power Of
Two . Cooperative learning mathematics learning using The Power Of two types
can increase students' motivation organized teachers in the cycle I gained an
average of 118 with enough categories , the second cycle was obtained with an
average of 131.5 motivated category and the third cycle gained an average of 172
the category of very motivated. Based on the results obtained by the observation
that all teachers have been increased from the first cycle to the second cycle and
from cycle to cycle II, III, and for observation of student activity also increased
from the first cycle to the second cycle and from cycle to cycle II, III. To test
communication skills math students in the learning process in the cycle I gained
an average of 52.08 with enough categories, the second cycle gained an average of
65.47 with both the category and the third cycle gained an average of 82.44 with
very good category. The conclusion of this research is the application of
cooperative learning The Power Of Two types can increase motivation and
mathematical communication skills.
