This is a class action research, entitled improved writing skills using the media
magazine news wall on student class VIII A SMP Muhammadiyah 10 Tamansari
Purbalingga school year 2011/20012.
Study aims to improve writing skills, especially writing news. This type of
research study was conducted in a Class Action Collaborative, the researcher assisted
by several other researchers. Subjects in this study were all students in grade VIII A
SMP Muhammadiyah 10 Tamansari Purbalingga as many as 21 students. Objects in
this study is the overall process and outcomes of learning activities in improving
writing skills by using the news media bulletin. The research was conducted in two
cycles, each cycle consisting of the first two meetings 2x40 minutes to explain the
material and the media to be used. The second meeting of the execution of the test
cycle. Techniques to collect data in this study is testing and observation sheets for
students and teacher activities. While the descriptive data analysis of quantitative and
qualitative.
The results showed that the ability to write a text message in class VIII A
SMP Muhammadiyah 10 Tamansari Purbalingga has increased: (1) Students are
motivated, so active in the learning (2) students are not embarrassed to ask (3)
Students are able to edit a text message. (4) Students are aware of the benefits gained
from learning to write news. This is indicated by an increase in the average ability to
write the story of each cycle of the cycle I with an average of 69.14 increased to 78.31
in the second cycle. So the news writing skills through the use of learning media
bulletin students on SMP Muhammadiyah 10 Tamansari Purbalingga shows the
increase significant.
