The research was aimed to describe the kinds of abbreviation, acronym and the forming process, and the suggestion of the implementation in learning bahasa Indonesia.
The research was qualitative. The data of the research were 310 abbreviations, 155 acronyms which existe in sentences founded in rubric “law, education, opinion, sport, politic, and event” of Kedaulatan Rakyat newspaper edition May 2012. The research used steps as follow: data supply, data analysis, and the presentation of the data analysis result. The procedure of data supply used reference method. The analysis used apportion method with yhe basic technique of Direct Element Share (BUL) technique, the advanced technique used wide and changing method. The presentation method of analysi’s result used informal method which was the formulation of ordinary words.
The result of the research were: (1) the kinds of abbreviation and the forming precess were 310 data, and (2) the acronym and the forming process was 155 data. The learning of abbreviation and acronym should be taught in basic competence (12) “ Uttering information in the form of news” and basic competence (12.2) “ Write news shortly, solidly, and cleary. Therefore, the student were demamded to be able to give spacing mark towards abbreviation or acronym and able to differentiate which one was abbreviation and acronym.
