Civics education is the subject that must be learn at school. This study has an important role in cerating new generations who have democratic attitude like responsible, critical, honest, fair and brave to give the arguments.
This subject has more roles to make and develop students’ democratic attitude. The teachers also have an important roles because they are as the second parents to surpervise students’ attitude at school. The research is aimed at knowing the role of Civics Education on developing democratic attitude in SMP Gunungjati 1 Purwokerto. The research used descriptive nethod. The data was collected by doing interview, doing the observation and making documentations. The data was analyzed by reduction, showing the data and making conclusion.
` the result of study showed that the role of Civics Education on developing students’ democratic attitude in SMP Gunungjati 1 Purwokerto was good enough nevertheles there were still many students who had less democratic attitude. However, both teacher and students are able to face it well.
