Abstract
This study was chosen to identify the teaching vocabulary through reading text by using word wall for eighth grades students of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Cilacap in academic year 2014/2015 . It was selected to be investigated because vocabulary was dif fi cult for the students to be understood . The res pondents were the students in SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Cilacap . Class VIII C as the experiment group and class VIII D as the c ontrol group. The respondents consisted of 74 students. The instrument s of research w er e tests . T he t - test result of experiment class and control class was 3. 414 then it is compared with the result to t - table at level of significance 0.05 for df = 72 which is 1.6 66 . The t - test was higher than t - table so the hypothesis was accepted. It means that there was positive effect in teaching vocabulary by using word wall media .
