The aim of the research was to find out the effectiveness of Treasure Hunt game for teaching
vocabulary. The method of the research was quasi-experiment. The subject of this research
was the students of class 8th C and D SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Purwokerto consisting of 50
students which was divided into experiment and control class with 25 students for each class.
Test was used to collect the data. To analyze the data the researcher utilized t-test. After the
analysis, this research showed a significant improvement in the students’ vocabulary. It is
supported by the t-test result which was higher than t-table (2.1586 > 2.021). In conclusion,
teaching vocabulary using Treasure Hunt game was effective.
