Introduction: Diuretic is a drug dealer that can increase the volume of urine or
urinary flow rate by increasing the excretion of water and Na+. The clinical
usefulness of diuretics is used for the treatment of hypertension, heart failure
kongesif, kidney failure and many others. In the treatment of hypertension have
been used such as diuretic (35.5%), Captropil (26.2%), valsatran (20.6%),
amlodipine (15.2%) and other antihypertensive drugs (2.5%). Community in
addition to using modern diuretics also use the plant as medicine, including drugs
for launch urine (diuretic). One of the plants empirically used diuretic drug are
artocarpus altilis (Parkinson) Fosberg which known as fruit bread or breadfruit.
Fruit and breadfruit leaves are used as a diuretic, cure heart failure, hypertension
and kidney.
Object: This study aimed to investigate the diuretics effects on ethanol extract of
of fruit and breadfruit leaves on male white rats of the wistar strain, and be
completelly to comparing diuretics effects on variations in dose ethanol extract
them on male white rats of the wistar strain.
Method: This study is an experimental post-test only control group design to
measure the volume of urine after treatment some groups (control and treatment).
The study was conducted by giving a positive control, negative control, treatment
of breadfruit ethanol extract. Provision has been made by way of orally treatment
to test animals.
Result: Base on the research have conclussion that various doses given to rats,
dose of breadfruit ethanol extract showed no significant difference with the dose
furosemide of 5.2 mg / kg, it meaning has a diuretic effect. Ethanol extract of
breadfruit leaves did not significantly differrent from dose furosemide 11mg/kg,
this menaing has a diuretic effect.
Conclusion: Base on the results can conclude that ethanol extract of the leaves
and breadfruit has a diuretic effect on white male rats wistar strain. Ethanol
extract of breadfruit produce a diuretic effect is higher than ethanol extract leaves
of breadfruit.
