Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out the effectiveness of Roundtable for teaching descriptive writing at the seventh grades of SMP N 1 Kedungreja in academic Year of 2014/2015. This research was conducted by using stratified random sampling research. The participants of this research were the students of SMP N 1 Kedungreja. There were two groups choosen VII B as the experimental group and VII E as the control group. In collecting data, this research used pre-test and post-test to get the data. The test was in the form of essay test. The t-test formula and interrater were used to analyze the data. Based on the computation, the result of t-test calculating was 4.48 while the t-table value at the level of significance 0.05 for degree of freedom (df) 58 was 1. 6715. It means that t-test was higher than t-table ( 4.48 > 1.6715). In conclusion, Roundtable was effective for teaching descriptive writing at the seventh grade students of one Junior High School.
