Writing is one of language skills taught gradually in formal education. However, the
learning process of writing in formal education has not born a satisfying result. Such
a condition has encourages the establishment of a learning community concerning on
developing writing skills among children, that is Rumah Kreatif Wadas Kelir
(RKWK), which is located on Wadas Kelir Street, Karang Klesem, District of South
Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency. The learning process of writing in RKWK is
interesting to study because this community has been able to facilitate its students to
be creative and productive in writing. In addition, this community also has a great
concern to develop learning strategies and to appreciate the products of writing. This
research is a qualitative research focusing on a case study. The data were collected
through observations, interviews, and documentation. This research found that: 1) the
concept of writing learning in RKWK are based on four principles, i.e. game,
literation, production/practice, and appreciation/follow up; 2) the practice of writing
learning is integrated in creativity development, covering linguistic, music,
kinesthetic, numeral, and color creativities, which is implemented in four stages, i.e.
preparation, presentation, practice, and performance; 3) the success of learning
writing in RKWK are supported by five factors, i.e. the inspirational figure,
community, learning strategy, teachers, and follow up of children’s writing products.
