Abstract
Leucaena leucocephala L is plant is cultivated by Indonesian. It is used
tradionally as an alternative medicine wounds sliced and punctured wounds
caused by sharp objects. Leucaena leucocephala seed contained active
compounds in the form of alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids, tannins, mimiosin,
leukanin, protein, fat, calcium, phosphorus, Vit A and B. Where the presence of
tannins give effect astringnsia is shrinking pores of the skin, strengthen the skin,
stop exudate and mild bleeding in the wound healing process. The purpose of this
study was to investigate the potential Leucaena leucocephala seed extract as a
wound healing. The method used in this study is the experimental method with a
completely randomized design. Where 25 test animals rabbits were divided into 5
groups, namely the cmc 2% as a negative control, povidone iodine 10% as a
positive control, a group Leucaena leucocephala seed extract treatment with dose
concentration of 5%, 10% and 20%. Treatment was given two times a day as
much as 1 g for 21, On day 7 and 21, were tested to determine the number of
histopathology fibroblast and collagen. Results showed that the extract
concentration of 5% the result is more optimal than the treatment group the
extract concentration of 10% and 20%, and positive and negative control group.
The conclusion that Leucaena leucocephala seed extract concentrations of 5%
has the effect of wound healing by increasing wound contraction, the number of
fibroblasts and collagen high scores.
