Abstract

Background. Self-medication becomes the choice of people to solve the common and
simple health suffered because of the low expensive and easy use. This kind of
medication will be even better if the pharmacist is present at pharmacy and records the
patient medications. However, the documentation of PMR has not been completely
implemented by the pharmacist. It is stated in the goverment regulations number 51 in
2009 that the pharmacy tasks are done referring to the value science, justice, humanity,
balance, protection, and the safety of the patients or people dealing with the pharmacy
preparations which are standardized and qualified in safety, quality, and benefits.
Therefore, any pharmacy services, particularly the self-medication done in pharmacy or
drugstore, need the documentation of Patient Medication Record (PMR) to support the
patient-oriented pharmacy services.
Aim of the research. To evaluate the implementation of the documentation of Patient
Medication Record based on the simulation patients’ perspective and pharmacist in
Pharmacies in Banyumas Regency.
Research Methodology. The subject of this research was the simulation patients, and
the inteview was done voluntarily. The type of this research was observational
descriptive with cross-sectional design.
Result. This research involved 58 pharmacist in Banyumas Regency. There were 36
voluntary pharmacists to be interview, and 2 pharmacies were exlusions. Based on the
patients’ perspective, there were 7 pharmacists doing the documentation of PMR.
Meanwhile, based on the pharmacist’ perspevtive, there were 10 pharmacists doing the
documentation of PMR. The supporting factors in the implementation of documentation
of PMR referring to the interview with pharmacists were the financial resources and
facilities. It was said that the provision of PMR sheets did not take a large amount of
expense and did not need a special room to keep the PMR documents. The obstacle
faced in implementation of documentation of PMR came from the human resources and
the patients. It was caused by the fact that most of pharmacies in Banyumas only had
one pharmacist so that mostly it was difficult to manage the time. The other problem
coming from the patient was that mostly it was not the patient who bought the medicine,
but the relative or other family members, and most patients came in a hurry so that the
pharmacy found it difficult to get the information further.
Concllusion. There was defference in the implementation of documentation of
documentation of PMR based on the simulation patients’ perspective and the
pharmacist’s perspective. One of the factors was that the pharmacists giving services to
the simulation patients were not the ones to be interviewed. Therefore, there should be
an improvement of the implementation of PMR documentation in Banyumas Regency
