Abstract
Incidence of cervical cancer in Indonesia by the International Agency for
Research on Cancer in 2012 was 17.3 per 100,000 women with mortality at 8.2
per 100,000 population. Cancer treatment and it‟s side effects often associated
with decreased quality of life. Cervical cancer treatment such as chemotherapy,
radiotherapy and surgery will lead to psychosocial problems and some side effects
such as nausea, vomiting, fatigue, menopausal symptoms, diarrhea, anemia,
leukopenia, kidney disorders, liver disorders, infertility, neuropathy, skin damage,
and chronic pain. This study aims to describe the quality of life of patients with
cervical cancer who received monotherapy or combination therapy in Prof. Dr.
Margono Soekardjo Purwokerto hospitals based questionnaire EQ 5D-5L and
determine whether there is difference in the quality of life of patients with cervical
cancer based on the type of treatment received. This research is descriptive
analytic representated the quality of life of cervical cancer patients and analyze
differences in the quality of life based on the type of treatment received in RSUD
Prof. Dr. Margono Soekardjo Purwokerto using cross sectional design, sampling
was done by purposive sampling of the data of cervical cancer patients who take
medication in RSUD Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto period January 2014 to
December 2014 and filling out the questionnaire EQ-5D-5L carried home visit. Of
the 28 patients had an average age of 48.61 years (SD = 7.12) and the type of
treatment that is mostly chemoradiation (78.6%). Quality of life of patients with
cervical cancer who received monotherapy or combination therapy in RSUD Prof.
Dr. Margono Soekardjo Purwokerto have the most problems in the dimension
pain/ discomfort and anxiety/ depression (53.57%), followed by the dimensions of
daily activity (50%), mobility (46.43%) and self-care (10 , 71%). The mean EQVAS
value of cervical cancer patients who received monotherapy or combination
therapy that is 74.82 (SD = 25.37). Quality of life of patients with cervical cancer
in RSUD Prof. Dr. Margono Soekardjo Purwokerto showed that there are
significant differences in the quality of life of patients with cervical cancer who
received chemotherapy treatment as compared to other types of treatment.
