Abstract

Background: Asthma is a chronich inflammation diseases on respiratory tract.
Asthma belongs to fifth dominant causes of death in the world. It is 17,4%. Long
term treatment for asthma can cause adverse drug reactions that resulted from
asthma expansion.
Objective: The research was aimed at knowing the number of patients who
suffered adverse drug reactions, % causality from adverse drug reactions that
happened on each medicine and % preventability adverse drug reactions level that
happened on each medicine in pulmonary clinic of RSUD Prof. Dr. Margono
Soekardjo Purwokerto.
Method: The research was descriptive study using asthma patient medical record
data and direct interview to the patients using algoritma naranjo scale and
schumock and thornton scale in the period of March-May 2015.
Results: There were 58 cases of adverse drug reactions from 33 patients in
pulmonary clinic of RSUD Prof. Dr. Margono Soekardjo Purwokerto. The main
causes were seretide diskus usage (fix combination fluticasone propionate and
salmeterol xinafoate) of 74,14%, salbutamol usage of 15,52% and terasma
expectoran syrup (fix combination terbutaline sulfate and guaifenesin) of 10,34%.
Preventability level for adverse drug reactions case that happened seretide diskus
usage, the highest percentage was a reactions that “not preventable” of 53,48%.
Preventability level for salbutamol, the highest percentage was a reaction that
“probably preventable” of 66,66% and preventability level for terasma expectoran
syrup usage, the highest percentage was a reaction that “probably preventable” of
83,34%.
Conclusion: A number of ADR cases in pulmonary clinic of RSUD Prof. Dr.
Margono Soekardjo Purwokerto in the period of March-May 2015 were 58 ADR
cases from 33 outpatients asthma patients. The antiasthma that caused ADR was
seretide diskus of 74,14%.
