Abstract

Lesson plan needs to be developed by a teacher as a direction or road map towards all
activities to be done by the teacher and learner in the classroom in order to achieve one
or more specific competencies appropriately and effectively. There are some English
teachers who still face difficulties in developing effective and systematic lesson plans
for a teaching program. In fact, they tend to imitate or even copy the ones developed in
the textbook and the internet. Considering these problems, a research related to an
analysis of lesson plan viewed from Educational Unit Level Curriculum (KTSP) was
conducted. The objective of this study was to investigate whether the English lesson
plans developed by the teacher of English at SMP Purnama Kesugihan and also the
teaching implementation are in conformity with the Educational Unit Level Curriculum
(KTSP) or school-based curriculum or not and to find out the problem faced by the
teacher in developing lesson plans as well as how the teacher overcome the problems.
For this purpose, the writer conducted a descriptive research case study employing
triangulation technique which consists of document analysis, observation, and
questionnaire which assissted by interview. The findings showed that the conformity of
lesson plan components with Educational Unit Level Curriculum (KTSP) generally in
moderate level around 62% - 65%. In other hand, the conformity level teaching
implementation with KTSP in moderate level around 66% - 70.90%,. The analysis of
the questionnaire data verified by the interview data also showed that the teacher at
SMP Purnama faced 9 problems, namely Moreover, there were 6 efforts made by the
teacher to overcome the problems.
