Abstract

Learning media is a significant aspect in enhancing learning quality. Paper
puppet media was chosen for this study because it is an engaging medium with a
teaching style that blends voice and pictures, and it is projected to promote student
participation and learning results. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that
using wayang paper may boost students' activity and learning results in Islamic
Religious Education in class III pupils at SD Negeri 02 Sikumpul.
This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of research is
classroom action research (PTK) which uses 2 research cycles and is carried out in
4 stages, namely planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. Data collection
techniques using tests, observation cycles, and documentation. Data analysis was
carried out by comparing the results of cycles I and II.
The results showed that there was an increase in student learning activity in
each cycle. This can be seen from the average proportion of students' active
learning in cycle I of 65.27% then increased in cycle II to 80.27%. On the learning
outcomes of students' completeness scores in the pre-cycle of 40%, increased in
cycle I by 70%, and cycle II by 90% with an average value in the pre-cycle of 65.50,
increased in cycle I by 72.25 and back increased in cycle II to 82.75. Thus it can be
concluded that the use of paper puppet media in learning Islamic Religious
Education can increase student activity and learning outcomes in material about
the exemplary story of Prophet Ibrahim a.s and Prophet Ismail a.s in class III
students at SDN 02 Sikumpul, Banjarnegara Regency in the 2022/2023 academic
year.
