Abstract
The background of this research is the students' low motivation and academic
achievement. This study aims to determine the effect of TPACK (Technology,
Pedagogical, Content, Knowledge) based problem-based learning to improve the
motivation and academic achievement of the fifth-grade students of SD Negeri
(Public Elementary School) Menganti. This classroom action research was carried
out in two cycles, each consisting of two meetings and one learning implementation
plan. This research consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages.
The subjects of this research were the fifth-grade students of Menganti Public
Elementary School numbering 23, consisting of 13 male students and ten female
students. Data collection tools included evaluation tests, teacher observation
sheets, student observation sheets, TPACK observation sheets, and motivation
questionnaire sheets. The improvement results can be seen in each cycle. The
student motivation questionnaire results increased from cycle I to cycle II. In cycle
I, the students' motivation on the motivation questionnaire sheet obtained an
average score of 72% with sufficient criteria. Cycle II obtained an average score
of 77% with good criteria. The evaluation test results also increased from cycle I
to cycle II. Cycle I obtained an average score of 73.48 with sufficient criteria, and
cycle II, obtained an average score of 90.71 with excellent criteria. The results of
TPACK integration showed an improvement from cycle I to cycle II. In cycle I, the
integration of TPACK obtained an average score of 83% with good criteria. Cycle
II obtained an average score of 100% with excellent criteria. This research shows
that applying the TPACK-based problem-based learning model can improve the
motivation and academic achievement of the fifth-grade students of Menganti
Public Elementary School.
