Abstract

This research was conducted in Kutabawa Village, Karangreja Sub-district,
Purbalingga Regency, from November 2022 to December 2023. The objectives of
this study were: 1) to describe the profile of Chinese cabbage farmers
in Kutabawa Village, Karangreja sub-district, Purbalingga Regency, 2) to analyze
the marketing channels of Chinese cabbage in Kutabawa Village, Karangreja sub�district, Purbalingga Regency, 3) to analyze the level of marketing efficiency of
Chinese cabbage in Kutabawa Village, Karangreja District, Purbalingga Regency.
This study used a qualitative and quantitative descriptive method with
primary and secondary data. The sample was determined using a simple random
sampling technique with a sample size of 32 farmers, calculated using the Slovin
method out of a population of 120 farmers. Meanwhile, the snowball sampling
method was used to determine key informant samples.
The results of this research were as follows: 1) The profile of farmers was
described in the characteristics of respondent farmers used to distinguish the
identity of each other. The characteristics used included age, education, years of
farming experience, number of dependents, land area, and side jobs. The sample
size used for respondents was 32 Chinese cabbage farmers out of a total population
of 120. 2) There were four patterns of Chinese cabbage marketing channels in
Kutabawa Village, Karangreja sub-district, Purbalingga Regency. Marketing
channel one involved farmers selling cabbage at IDR 6,000 per kg to end
consumers. Marketing channel 2 involved farmers selling cabbage directly to
middlemen at IDR 2,250 per kg, middlemen sell to retailers at IDR 3,250 per kg,
and retailers market to end consumers at IDR 6,000 per kg. Marketing channel 3
involved farmers selling cabbage directly to wholesalers at IDR 4,750 per kg,
wholesalers sold to retailers at IDR 6,250 per kg, and retailers marketed to end
consumers at IDR 8,250 per kg. Marketing channel 4 involves farmers selling
cabbage directly to wholesalers at IDR 4,750 per kg, and wholesalers sold to end
consumers at IDR 6,000 per kg. 3) The most efficient marketing channel was
channel I with an efficiency value of 4.38%. Consumer level purchasing prices and
marketing costs affected marketing efficiency
