Abstract

The ideal shallot plant should have high productivity and quality. This is
related to the conventional vegetative propagation method. Conventional
propagation has limitations, such as cultivars carrying disease pathogens that can
reduce productivity. The use of True Shallot Seed (TSS) has several advantages
over the use of bulb seedlings (conventional method). However, using TSS as
planting material has disadvantages; it requires a nursery phase and a longer harvest
time, 121 days after transplanting. One way to improve shallots' seed germination
and vegetative growth is by using Growth Regulators (ZPT). This study aimed to
determine the effect of various natural ZPTs with different concentrations on
improving the germination rate of Lokananta TSS. The study was conducted from
May to June 2023 at the Basic Agrotechnology Laboratory and Applied
Agrotechnology Laboratory of FPP UMP. A completely Randomised Design
(RAL) single element was used in this study methodology. The study's subjects
were the three types of natural ZPTshallot extract, bean sprout germination, and
banana pseudostem. For their respective experiments, the concentrations were
20g/100ml, 40g/100ml, 60g/100ml, and 80g/100ml. Five times each treatment was
given. ANOVA and a 5% DMRT test were utilized in the data analysis. The
findings demonstrated that applying different amounts of natural ZPT did not
significantly affect the germination of TSS Lokananta variety seeds.
