Abstract

The background to this research is that independence is an important aspect of children's development, especially for autistic students who often face special challenges in carrying out daily activities. Independence not only includes the ability to perform basic tasks such as eating, dressing, or maintaining personal hygiene, but also involves developing the social, emotional, and cognitive skills necessary to function independently in society. The independence of autistic students is greatly influenced by the efforts made by teachers in the educational process at school. Teachers have a significant role in preparing them for a life that is independent and not dependent on other people in the future. Developing independence skills from an early age provides provisions for facing the challenges of everyday life with more confidence and responsibility. This research aims to describe the efforts made by teachers in developing the independence of autistic students through the Activity of Daily Living program, describe the strategies used by teachers in implementing the Activity of Daily Living program, and analyze the success of the efforts made in developing the independence of autistic students. The location of this research is at Putra Harapan Integrated Elementary School, Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, which is a school that provides Inclusive Education. This research is qualitative research using the case study method. The research subjects consisted of the principal, class teacher, accompanying teacher and two autistic students. Data were collected using interviews, observation and documentation which were then analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques. The results of the research show that the teacher's efforts to develop the independence of autistic students through the Activity of daily living program at Putra Harapan Integrated Elementary School Purwokerto Banyumas can be said to be successful, the independence of autistic students is developing better, with an achievement of 93% for autistic students in grade 2, 71% for autistic students Grade 1 they are able to carry out Activities of Daily Living independently.
