Abstract

This research is motivated by a phenomenon in Danasari Village where there are quite interesting things that have happened in recent years. That is, many parents send their children to boarding schools. Parents who have backgrounds as farmers, employees, traders and others. Some of them send their children to boarding schools. The purpose of this research is 1) to find out the motivation of parents in Danasari village in sending their children to boarding school, 2) to find out the parents' perception of boarding school, 3) to find out the difficulties of parents in sending their children to boarding school.
This type of research is field research (field research) because the data obtained from this research is done by researching the field. The author collects data obtained by going directly to the field. The data in this study were collected using interview and documentation techniques. Furthermore, the data that has been collected is analyzed with qualitative data analysis techniques in the form of: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing.
The results of this study indicate that the first motivation of parents to send their children to boarding school educational institutions, namely: a) want their children to become soleh-solehah children, b) have in-depth knowledge of religious science, c) train children's independence, d) have good character, e) can be useful for the community. Second, parents' perceptions of boarding schools are: a) a place to learn religion, b) a storehouse of religious knowledge, c) a place to instill discipline, d) a place to improve behavior. Third, the difficulties faced by parents in sending their children to boarding schools are: a) the child does not feel at home in the boarding school, b) it is difficult to persuade the child to want to enter the boarding school, c) difficulties in financing.
