Abstract

Shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) are a vital horticultural commodity, with their
demand increasing annually due to rising consumption. To meet this growing
demand, the productivity of shallots in Indonesia must be improved. Fertilization,
both organic and inorganic, is one approach to enhancing shallot yields. The
application of granular organic fertilizer and potassium fertilizer (KCI) can be an
effective method to boost shallot production. The study aimed to examine the
effects of granular organic fertilizer and potassium fertilizer on the growth and
yield of shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.). The research design employed was a
Completely Randomized Block Design (CRBD). The treatments consisted of two
factors: the first factor was the concentration of granular organic fertilizer (G)
with three levels, and the second factor was the dosage of KCI (K) fertilizer, also
with three levels. There were nine treatment combinations, each repeated three
times, with each experimental unit consisting of 3 polybags. The results revealed
that the interaction between granular organic fertilizer and potassium fertilizer
significantly affected the number of leaves, leaf length, number of bulbs, and root
length. However, it did not affect substantially the fresh plant weight, dry plant
weight, fresh bulb weight, dry bulb weight, or bulb diameter.
