Abstract

The rapid development of information and communication technology in
Indonesia has led to an increasing demand for fast and accurate information,
especially in institutions, companies, and organizations. Mobile technology
connected to the internet offers quick and precise access, including smartphones
with the Android operating system, which are now often equipped with GPS sensors
to track coordinates. This development has been utilized by various institutions to
enhance performance, including the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises
(MSME) Sweets Wig in Grecol Village, Kalimanah District, Purbalingga Regency,
Central Java. This MSME still uses manual methods for recording employee
attendance, often leading to issues such as fraud and damage or loss of attendance
books. The solution to the problems at Sweets Wig requires an Android-based
attendance application that utilizes GPS to assist employees in recording
attendance via smartphones, as well as helping the MSME in data recap and
improving discipline, thereby minimizing cases of fraud. This research is a Research
and Development study that results in a product in the form of an application. The
application development was carried out using the waterfall model approach. This
study was successfully conducted through a series of system development stages
and supported by testing results using the Black Box Testing method to test the
success of the functionalities.
