This study aimed to identify the profile of salak farmers, internal and external factors, and alternative strategies that can be implemented to develop salak farming in Pekandangan Village, Banjarmangu District, Banjarnegara Regency.
The research method was a survey conducted with simple random sampling. The data analysis method employed is SWOT analysis, including the IFE Matrix, EFE Matrix, SWOT Matrix, and QSPM Matrix. The study revealed that the main strength was the potential of available land resources, while the primary weakness was weak financial capability. The main opportunity was the increasing consumer demand for fruit, and the primary threat was unpredictable climate change.
The alternative strategies generated were: 1) utilizing the high motivation of farmers and increasing local government attention in processing salak fruit to achieve good quality and profitability, 2) optimizing land use and labor support to capitalize on market potential, 3) participating in training or extension programs to enhance knowledge about salak farming, 4) accessing financial institutions and reputable organizations to increase business capital, 5) enhancing human resource potential to encourage younger generations to engage in salak farming, 6) increasing production and improving the quality of salak harvests to secure appropriate pricing, 7) minimizing costs to anticipate price fluctuations.
