Abstract
Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto currently operates several management
information systems, including EKK Online. This system is an application for storing
certificate data online, including mandatory and elective certificates. The certificate
data entered includes mandatory/elective activities, activity criteria, activity content,
and more. Each student is required to fill out the data entry form. Several issues have
arisen during this data entry process, causing significant inconvenience for users.
Therefore, a system update is necessary to ensure it operates effectively and smoothly
for users. This research aims to redesign or develop the user interface and user
experience of the EKK Online Information System (SIM EKK Online UMP) based on
user needs and comfort. The study employs a quantitative method involving
interviews and usability testing with 100 UMP students. The user interface design
approach applied is the Five Planes Method, which consists of five stages: strategy
plane, which involves defining product objectives, user needs, and user personas;
scope plane, which determines functionality and content to outline user scenarios;
structure plane, which designs user flows and information architecture; skeleton
plane, which creates low-fidelity design prototypes; and surface plane, which
develops high-fidelity design prototypes. The research results include alternative
designs that can be recommended for a more user-friendly SIM EKK Online UMP
website compared to the original design.
