Abstract

Translation has a very broad field. One of them is translating
children's literature in the form of fables. Translating children's literature is different
from translating literary works in general. That is because when translating
children's literature, the translator must pay attention to the language used in the
translation. It aims to facilitate children's understanding of the translation. In this
study, the researcher compared two translated stories with the titles "Siapa Teman
Kita?" which is TT1 and "Siapakah Sahabat Kami?" which is TT2. Both stories come
from the same ST story title. That is a fable story with the title "Who Is Our Friend?"
which is taken from the storyweaver website. From the analysis that refers to the
parameters of the assessment of the accuracy of the translation message developed by
Sutopo and Setya Budi (2016), it is found that TT1 has a high level of message
accuracy compared to TT2. This is because the TT1 translator retains the meaning of
ST in the translation well. In addition, TT1 translator also did not include
unnecessary additions in the translation. However, besides the advantages of TT1,
there are still disadvantages in it. That is, the language used in the translation of TT1
is a formal language, thus giving a stiff impression to the translation. It is different
from the TT2 translation which adds affixes to make the language in the translation
seem flexible. From the description, it can be concluded that TT1 translation has an
advantage in the aspect of message accuracy and TT2 translation has an advantage
in the aspect of flexibility.
