Background: Cancer has high mortality and morbidity with 219.497 cases in
Indonesia. Dutasteride is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitors (5ARIs) compound that is
approved by the US FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and is used for the
treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Dutasteride weaken the energy binding
between ERα-TRIM56 based on protein-protein docking studies, so it potential as
an anti-breast cancer agent. This research was conducted to determine the level of
ERα expression. Dutasteride administered breast cancer cells (T47D) and normal
cells (Vero cells) Methods: T47D and Vero cells were treated using Dutasteride.
Proteins were separated using SDS-PAGE. Semi-dry Western blot was used to
transfer proteins to PVDF membranes. Visualization of protein bands using
ImageQuant LAS 500. Results: Bands were only visible in the protein sample lane
of Vero cells and not in the T47D cells protein lane. Conclusion: Based on the
results of this research, the level of ERα expression in cancer cells cannot be
defined after Dutasteride treatment.
