Abstract

This study aims to determine the types of arbuscular mycorrhiza fungi
(AMF) in the rhizosphere of tomato plant in Kutabawa village. The research
method was wet sieving and root staining techniques. Spores found were
identified based on the observation of morphological characters of spores which
included the size, shape and color, then matched with the guidelines of INVAM
identification (International Culture Collection Of (Vesicular) arbuscular
Mycorrhizal Fungi) and according Brundrett et al. (1996) and Morton (1998) to
determine the genus of FMA. FMA infection in the root based on its structure an
arbuscular vesicles was applied to calculate the percentage of the degree of
mycorrhizal infection. Result obtained 45 spores FMA isolation of five sampling
points (A, B, C, D and E) in 100 g soil sample each. The results of the
identification of 45 spores AMF obtained two different genera, namely Glomus
and Acaulospora. FMA infection test discovered that vesicle and arbuscular
structures on each root samples. The magnitude of the degree of infection of the
five sample points (A, B, C, D and E) in sequence was 30%, 30%, 20%, 30%, and
20%. Data were analyzed by descriptive qualitative. Based on FMA spores
identification obtained 26 Acaulospora genus and 19 Glomus genus and the
degree of infection was in the low category.
