Abstract

The rapid development of ICT in the modern period has had an impact on many sectors of life. One area that is influenced is the academic environment. Today's education system is substantially boosted by the availability of easy access to technology, which is supported by the state in the development of technology in the classroom teaching and learning process. This study is a descriptive qualitative study that focuses on teachers' implementation of ICT in English classes at Banjarnegara Junior High School, as well as the challenges they face. Data was gathered through class observations, interviews, and document analysis of lesson plans. According to the findings of this study, the English teachers who took part in this research were inexperienced with a number of ICT tools. They continue to stress the usage of ICT equipment like laptops, LCD projectors, and speakers while ignoring other instruments. The Internet's use as a teaching tool has yet to be realized. Because teachers lack expertise in ICT-supporting media, various types of ICT-supporting media have not been used effectively in classrooms. In terms of its application during the learning phase, the teachers continue to emphasize the introduction of new content and the practice of material phases. This study also revealed that teachers confront significant hurdles while utilizing ICT. One of the difficulties is a lack of confidence and an inability to integrate ICT tools. The teachers' lack of training knowledge and experience is the next problem. Some teachers struggle with ICT and must get additional knowledge and skills. Schools with teachers do not yet have adequate ICT resources for each lesson. ICT learning preparation takes a significant amount of time, and teachers must also devote significant time to other duties. Another obstacle is the scarcity of training or seminars on using ICT in the learning process.
