Abstract
This study aims to analyze and prove empirically the effect of capital adequacy ratio, non-performing loans, operating costs on operating income and loan to deposit ratio on profitability in conventional BPRs and Islamic BPRs in Central Java Province. The population in this study are all conventional BPRs and sharia BPRs in Central Java province for the 2019-2021 period. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling and a sample of 233 conventional BPRs and 26 sharia BPRs that met the criteria were obtained. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression. The classical assumption test is carried out so that the regression equation model formed is not biased. The findings in this study indicate that in the context of conventional BPR CAR and LDR have a positive effect on profitability, BOPO is found to have a negative effect on profitability, but the hypothesized NPL has a negative effect. The results of the statistical analysis provide different findings, namely a positive effect on profitability. This study also provides empirical findings in the context of sharia BPR, only BOPO has a negative effect on profitability. Three other variables, namely CAR, NPF and FDR have no effect on profitability.
