Abstract

Purification of the soul or tazkiyatun nufus is something that a student must
have in studying. Purification of the soul is also really needed by a student to
manage himself in carrying out all his actions and not let the actions he has done
have a bad impact on him in his pursuit of knowledge. Tazkiyatun nufus is the
process of cleansing the soul from despicable actions, such as: riya', hasad, ujub,
arrogance and kufr. Then fill the soul that has been purified with commendable
morals. The aim of this research is to apply the values of tazkiyatun nufus using
taklim learning to class VIII students at the Zam-Zam Muhammadiyah Cilongok
Modern Islamic Boarding School.
This research is a type of field research (field research) with the research
being qualitative descriptive research. Field research is research carried out
directly in the field using data collection techniques in the form of observation,
interviews and documentation. Data analysis uses the results of data reduction,
data presentation, and drawing conclusions.
Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that in general
tazkiyatun nufus is the process of purifying the soul from sinful acts, the process of
developing good morals in a student. The application of Tazkiyatun Nufus values
to students is achieved using 3 strategies, namely through book learning in taklim
activities, through example and through daily habits. There are several supporting
and inhibiting factors in the values of implementing tazkiyatun nufus, including: a)
supporting factors: conditioning and self-awareness, good social environment and
relationships, Islamic boarding school regulations and programs. B) inhibiting
factors: poor social environment, differences in religious activities between at home
and at the Islamic boarding school.
