Abstract

his research aimed to find out the correlation between self efficacy and
students’ interest to read in a library in SD N 1 Sambirata, Cilongok sub
-district
of Banyumas Regency. The research was a correlation research with quantitative
approach. The research population was 193 students of grade IV, V, and VI in SD
N 1 Sambirata. The research samples were taken based on Slovin formula, i.e. 130
samples. The sampling technique was proportional random sampling. In this
research, there was one independent variable, i.e. self efficacy and one dependent
variable, i.e. reading interest. The data collection technique was questionnaire.
The data analysis technique was product moment correlation. The hypothesis test
result showed that the value of R
count
coefficient was greater than R
table
(0,780>0,172) with a significance level of 5% and the total of n=130. The
correlation value indicated that there was a correlation between self efficacy and
students’ reading interest in SD N 1 Sambirata. Thus, it meant that any increase
in
self efficacy variable would influence the increase of reading interest’s variable
