Abstract

This research aims to describe the effectiveness of learning interest and preparedness on the learning outcomes of the Indonesian language for Seventh Grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Bawang, Banjarnegara. This field study is classified as quantitative research with a survey method. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Bawang, Banjarnegara, in the second semester of the academic year 2022/2023. The data in this study consist of the results of student questionnaires on learning interest and preparedness, as well as the learning outcomes measured by test scores in the Indonesian language. The data sources are Seventh Grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Bawang, totaling 75 individuals. The variables in the study can be categorized into (1) independent variables, which are learning interest (X1) and students' preparedness (X2), and (2) dependent variables, which are the learning outcomes achieved by students after the learning process (Y). The population used in this research comprises Seventh Grade students, consisting of eight classes with 37 students in each class, totaling 296 students. The sample taken for the study is 25% of the total, which amounts to 75 students from classes VII A to VII H, chosen randomly. The instruments used in this study include questionnaires to measure interest and preparedness, and documentation of test scores given to students. Instrument testing in this study involves validity testing, where the researcher uses Pearson's correlation formula known as the product-moment correlation, and instrument reliability testing using the alpha formula. The data collection techniques used in this research are questionnaires, documentation, and observation. The data analysis techniques include prerequisite tests, such as linearity tests, and hypothesis tests using regression analysis. The regression equation used is the multiple linear regression equation. The results of the research show a significant effect between learning interest and preparedness on Indonesian language learning outcomes for Seventh Grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Bawang. This is evident from the overall coefficient test (F-test), which shows a calculated F value of 22.018 compared to the tabled F value of 3.15, with a significant probability level of 0.001 (less than 0.05). The model summary output reveals a coefficient of determination (R-square) of 0.380.
