Abstract

This study is motivated by the low understanding of mathematical concepts
among Grade VII D students at SMP N 1 Baturraden. Implementing differentiated
learning significantly enhances students' understanding of mathematical concepts.
One method to implement differentiated learning in improving students'
understanding of mathematical concepts is problem-based learning (PBL). This
study aimed to improve the mathematical concept understanding of Grade VII D
students at SMP N 1 Baturraden through differentiated learning using problembased
learning. This research employed the Classroom Action Research (CAR)
method. The results of this study discovered that in the first cycle, the average
score of students was 35.57, in the second cycle, it was 58.5; and in the third
cycle, it was 76.47. The research conducted in cycles I, II, and III in Grade VII D
at SMP N 1 Baturraden indicated that differentiated learning through problembased
learning can enhance the understanding of mathematical concepts
