Abstract

The bus passenger detection system is a method used to automatically count incoming passengers, outgoing passengers, and passengers inside the Trans Banyumas bus based on the Internet of Things (IoT). In the design of this system, NodeMCU ESP8266 is used as the controller, paired with Infrared FC-51 as the bus passenger detection sensor. An I2C LCD is used as a text display, and an LED is used as an indicator of the passenger count results. The passenger count data is integrated with a website used to display the passenger count status and show the results stored in the database using MySQL. From the creation and testing of this device, the results obtained are in line with expectations. This is evident from the data collected from the Infrared FC-51, where the sensor reading is too short, reaching only 20 cm. The device has been designed using a sufficiently long cable and has a non-significant delay, only 0.5 seconds
